# Run a four-question research pilot

Source: https://judicio.ai/blogs/ai-legal-research-tools-guide

Use a closed or fictional matter with a known answer set. Ask each candidate the same four questions: locate a known authority; explain a narrow proposition; find an adverse authority; and answer a question outside its stated coverage. This is a test design, not a report of measured vendor results.

- [ ] Record the jurisdiction, court, date and exact question before running the test.
- [ ] For each answer, record the original authority and passage, the proposition it supports and any qualification omitted.
- [ ] Mark retrieval failures separately from unsupported reasoning and unavailable sources.
- [ ] Have a second reviewer repeat the source check; record correction time and remaining gaps before making the purchase decision.
- [ ] Record the unresolved questions and the next review action.
